AICE Media Studies

Today me and my group mate started the editing process. We really didn’t do much besides put everything in order. It was a little confusing getting all the scenes in order but we figured it out. We still are going to have to add all the effects and text and transitions. However it looks pretty good so far. I’m going to show a few of my friends and mother to try to get some feedback and see if they think it looks good. I think it’ll be good to get an outside perspective on our project and see if they have good advice for making it better. I’ll be asking some other AICE Media students as well so hopefully they have some tips I don’t know about. Besides that the editing is going good and we don’t have much left besides the transitions and text and other effects we may or may not add. 

Me and my group have moved our film session up to today. We were talking about it and we were both free today so we decided to move up one of our session to today instead of this weekend. We still don’t have our actor for this session but we can at least get the refilling of some of our other scenes done. As I said before re-filming these scenes aren’t really that important but I’d still like to do it since we have the time and I’d like to make it as close to how I want it as possible. For today’s filming session we plan to reshoot a couple of the later scenes. I mostly just want to reshoot these scenes so that we have more variety of footage for them. That way I can see which ones I like best during the editing process. Even though I think having more film might make sorting it more confusing I also think it will be a good thing when editing in case I dont like the way one scene turned out or if I don’t think it fits the right way, I can have another scene that maybe fits in better. 

Me and my group mate have been discussing the music choice we will use for our final project. We’ve been talking about doing a suspenseful song to go in the background. However i have in mind something that isn’t very heart racing and more just lightly suspenseful. I know that is a weird way of describing it but I don’t know any other way too. It’s kind of just an idea I’ve had in my head for how i want the music to go but I dont know how I can put it into words any better. Anyway we’ve been looking for good royalty free music on youtube and we found a video with a bunch of different styles of suspenseful music. There was only two however that fit what I had in mind and I’m not sure which one we will use or if maybe we will use both. That will end up being decided during the editing process because I am going to need to try out both over the final film to see which one I think fits best.

I have been looking through a lot of our filming today and I’ve been making notes on what i think needs to be added or redone. Sadly I think we need to re-film one of the scenes done with our actor. This is a little bit of a set back because it is kinda difficult scheduling with someone who isn’t really affiliated with our project, because obviously they are not going to care as much as me and my group do. However I am not too worried about this set back. I considered just keeping it the way it is and calling it a wrap for filming, but since we still have a bit of time left for our project I think it’s safe to re-film it and try making it as close to how I picture it in my head as possible. So for that reason we will be trying to get a filming session scheduled with the actor sometime next weekend. There is a few other things i’d like to fix up but they aren’t really as important. I’m hoping everything works out well with our actor because that’s the only thing that I am kind of worrie

This weekends filming went really well, we got it all done!! I wasnt expecting to get it all finished today but we made it happen. All the filming went really smooth and we didn’t have really any issues, besides having to shoot a couple of scenes twice, but that’s expected when filming anything. We have a good amount of footage to look through and i’m sure a bit of it will get cut down in editing. We filmed for around four hours on friday and around 5 hours on saturday. It was very tiring but i’m glad we did it. While we did finish all our filming I think we will still do another session after looking over the footage because there is a chance we missed something. So I think we will do that next weekend after we’ve finished going through the footage. 

This week we started our first bit of filming. It went well and was very smooth especially for our first session. We got enough done and everything went more or less according to plan. I’m happy with how it turned out. We finished about 1/3 of the filming. We haven’t done anything with our other actor yet so i’m still nervous about getting all that situated. I am also nervous about editing since I think that will take up a large amount of time to do what I have in mind for the project. However in the end I think it will all work out fine and i’m actually really excited to see how it turns out because I have put a lot of thought and time into this project. I don’t know when our next filming session will be probably within the next week or so. 

This week we’ve been working on our case file which is the main prop for our movie and is made up of different media including newspaper headings and pictures of victims of the murders. I wanted to make this case file look good because it is a big part of our film. It’s been a lot of work getting everything together for it especially since we’re doing all the media from scratch. It’s basically just been us having photoshoots trying to get the best angle. Besides that we plan to shoot our first real scene in a few days. We’ve worked everything out with our other actor. So hopefully it all works out well. We’re also still working on getting places to shoot our other scenes. This is a little difficult but I’m sure we’ll figure it out soon. 

We plan to start filming this week, even though we haven’t started yet there still is a lot of preparation that needs to be done. This week we’ve been working on a lot of props for our project. The main thing we’ve been working on is the case file that appears in our video which will be a very big part of the project. This case file requires a bunch of real pictures and news paper headings that we have to create and then add. While this isn’t very difficult it is a very big part of the story of our project and we still need to use costumes and props to capture the pictures for the file. We will be using a polaroid camera also so we can print out the pictures on the spot, This makes it so we don’t have to go anywhere to get the photos developed. We also are still working on getting an actor to play the captain I have someone in mind we just need to coordinate a good time to film with them, worst case scenario we will just shoot the police captain scenes later on and get everything else
