Music Video CCR

  1. In our music video we tried to imitate several traditions from other music video genres and production styles for our music video. We observed various elements during our investigation, including camera angles, attire, accessories, lighting, and the general mood of the music and video. We compared our song with other enthusiastic songs that were extremely comparable to ours, finding that they had the same loud costumes, tangible props, and camera movement because our music was specifically more lively and exciting. Using what resources we had, we attempted to replicate these characteristics as closely as possible. Our music generally had a plot that we could easily follow along with lyric by lyric. It talked about the experience of moving to Los Angeles and being in such a strange and frightening place, but then finding solace in music and a sense of belonging. The way in which our video's primary character, Billi, conveyed her emotions helped to solidify this convention and conveyed the idea that she was simultaneously anxious and optimistic. We sought to match the camera angles with each scene that would make the most sense with the scene's theme, as the lyrics provided us with a rough framework for how to film each scene based on the characters' emotions and the surroundings. Naturally, in keeping with the plot, we created a club atmosphere with our lighting during her time in the club. We utilized a pan to show her getting into and inside the car when we were in the taxi or car. This were all our attempts to match those features using the conventions we saw in our comparison footage.
  2. Our song illustrates the experience of being in a new place for the first time, struggling at first to feel at ease but also experiencing a great deal of excitement. Although the lyrics are generally upbeat, they yet convey a sense of unease. Since it's common to feel anxious or overwhelmed in a new environment, especially when relocating to a new location, as the song makes clear, this is relatable and may engage with any audience. Many people resort to music when experiencing various emotions, particularly anxiety, and the main character finds solace in her favorite songs and music in general. Specifically, our film would be shared on public platforms that are most frequented by the general public, providing inspiration to everyone who may identify with feeling nervous and allowing us to reach a wider audience. Having a strong social media presence, our organization might take use of this to get our media in front of more people who can identify with it.
  3. Although our production abilities weren't the best at first, the other members of the group were able to adjust and work around them. Due to schedule conflicts, which we had anticipated, our original plan to film the airport scenes at the real Hollywood airport was canceled. Despite this setback, we managed to be resourceful and inventive in our attempts to replicate the environment, even down to the signage designating it. We anticipated there would be problems with the venue and props, so we prepared for things not to go exactly as planned, but we made the most of what we could with the resources we had. Braeden M., one of the group members, had to handle the editing alone, while I had to handle the filming on my own. Although this was not our original goal, it was difficult to coordinate our schedules so that we could both attend the shoot. Fortunately, Billi enjoyed her role as the video's main character and accurately conveyed the message throughout production. In order to keep to the time constraint, I had to cut out some of my favorite sections from the music editing, but I still used the most significant bits to chronologically connect all the scenes.Fortunately, we were able to shoot and edit in two days, adding finishing touches the day of submission to ensure it met expectations. The specific concept we had initially agreed upon didn't work out, but we were still able to match the requirements and give the movie a distinctive finishing touch that made it all come together.
  4. Most of the frames in our video are taken at a wide perspective because we recorded our scenarios horizontally using the camera on our phones. To align all of our scenes, we utilized templates and overlays offered by the editing tool CapCut. We had the challenge of our music being copyrighted, as most do, but happily CapCut offered the ability to import and overlay over our scenes a segment of audio that we had previously stored featuring our tune. To precisely fit the lyrics for the plot, we altered the duration of each of our individual scenes using the cut tool. Although the lyrics called for well-known locations that we were unable to physically include—as much as we would have loved to be in Hollywood—we used YouTube to locate video clips of those locations that were recorded in a similar manner to ours, so everything blended in seamlessly. Because it was requested in the lyrics, we even included YouTube clips in our video when the camera pans over the Hollywood sign and well-known celebrities. We felt these elements were crucial to the story. We also thought of using the other shooting tools on our iPhones, but ultimately opted against it because it wouldn't have been as realistic or upbeat as the ones we used for our study, and it wouldn't fit with the pop song genre. Ultimately, the utilization of technology and applications really aided in the creation and final output of our video, which we are all pleased with.
